Greasy hairstyle tutorial

Greasy hair is never fun and can be super embarrassing. It makes you feel dirty even if you have just had a shower and made you insist that you are a ‘hat person’. We all know it has nothing to do with cleanliness and everything to do with how quickly and how much your glands produce oil. Yes changing your diet and washing routine will help but whilst your body is adjusting it but it may take about a month. In the meantime, there is no need to struggle just find some hairstyles that are easy to rock with greasy locks. Keep reading this step by step to learn these greasy proof hairstyle.

The sleek ponytail

This look is great if you don’t want your hair in your face and you are on the go. A classic style that traditionally looks great with hair wax or hairspray your hair’s oils actually replace these products to keep your hair looking smooth. Thoroughly comb your hair, I tend to do this is small sections and gather your hair at the back of your crown. I use 2 hair ties to give it a bit more body and come to the hair that is lying back to make it smooth. I don’t see the point of doing a hairstyle that doesn’t look fabulous so I attach my clip in extensions around my hair tie and wrap so strands around the base to conceal them. With your hair up you are free to go a little bolder with your eye makeup and earrings.

Vintage style bun

This look is super cute and is great for going out on a sunny evening. Start by parting your hair to the side to give it a very 50’s vibe. This style is so simple but looks really glamorous. Next, brush your hair so it is to the side and behind your ears before securing it as a side ponytail. I usually use a hair tie colour similar to my hair to make the style look a bit better put together. If your hair has flyaways use an old toothbrush and some hairspray to smooth them down. Split your ponytail in half and loop each section around your fingers with the hair ends on the inside of the loop. Pin the loops to your head near the base of your ponytail so that they don’t budge.

The banging braid

Start by creating the sleek ponytail that is above but instead of adding extensions that are purely your hair colour add some that are ombre. Once you have secured the strands that go around the base of your ponytail, split it into three equal sections. You are going to be creating a lovely full dutch braid by slipping the right section under the middle section then the left section under the middle section. Continue all the way to the end of your hair and you will notice the shades of ombre coming through. Secure your braid and pinch the sections so they look fanned out and full.
