Pull through braids for beginners

Whether you are used to trying out new styles every day or you are seeing if you can replicate your fab celeb’s look, this style is for you. It looks incredible and will cause some serious hair envy but it is deceptively easy to achieve. You can create this in two braids or a braid on the side bit today we are going to be focusing on a simple pull-through braid down the back for two reasons. Reason one is that it is easy to do and therefore perfect for beginners and reason two is that it is still the most popular. Keep reading this step by step tutorial to achieve your perfect pull through the braid.

Preparation

I have tried this look on second-day hair (with a bit of dry shampoo) as well as newly washed hair and it has worked equally well. If you have just washed your hair make sure that it is dry before you start the look, it is much more difficult with wet or knotty hair.

How to add your extensions

One clip extensions are ideal for this look. I know you don’t have 8 one clip extensions in a set so you will need to clip your 2-3 clip extensions to itself to make them the same width as a one clip extension. This may seem like a little bit of hassle but it is essential if you want to make sure that your extensions will not be seen at the end of your look. Unlike a lot of other styles, you do not add your extensions at the beginning but as you are forming your sections for the pull through so keep reading and I will tell you when to put them in.

Creating your pull through look

Divide your first section above your ears and gather it together like a ponytail. Before you secure it, attach your extension piece upside down underneath your ponytail so that it blends properly. Now you can secure with a hair tie and move it out of the way whilst you repeat the process with the section below, just behind your ears. Separate the first ponytail and flip the second one up, in between the separation. Create another ponytail near the ends of your ears but this time incorporate the ends from your first ponytail. Don’t forget to add your extensions to the underneath of your ponytail before securing it. Now you can release the second ponytail, which you had pinned up, and divide it in half. Pin the third ponytail you created out of the way so you can incorporate your final ponytail at the nape of your neck. You now have your basic pattern established of slitting and integrating hair. Repeat this all the way to the ends of your hair, using clear hair ties to help secure the sections. Once you have done you can tug on each section to help it look full and picture worthy.

When you create this look don’t forget to hashtag #cliphair so we can share your style.
