Ashley Graham’s 2019 Oscar hairstyle tutorial
You may know Ashley Graham as one of America’s leading model’s but she could be confused for a prima ballerina in her gorgeous 2019 Oscar’s look. Her black, strapless Zac Posen gown oozed glamorously, she is definitely deserving of being centre stage on the red carpet. Even with this stunning dress and sparkling diamonds from her neck and ears, it was her hair that stole the show. This classic look had a twist that certainly turned heads. It was so creative and one of my favourites from the evening so today I want to show you how to achieve her style in this step-by-step tutorial. Once it is complete pease #wearcliphair to show off your gorgeous styles.
Step number 1: preparation
Divide your hair in half horizontally and attach your Cliphair extension wefts in the lower half to add more body to this look. Blend these by brushing them through. This style has a slight sheen to it, to achieve this look add a little (like pea size) amount of hair oil to your hands before work it through your hair. I find this easier to do combing it in after I have created my central part. Finally, make sure that you have your velvet bows ready. If you want them to look classy, opt for black.
Step number 2: gather your hair.
This part is easy and will be even easier now that you have your hair oil in, just make sure that you give it about 10 minutes to soak in so it isn’t sticky and leave residue on your hands. One of the benefits of oil is that it helps your hair lay flat. That is great for this look so you don’t have to straighten your hair or extensions, saving you both time and hair frizz. Brush your hair into a ponytail and secure just behind your ears. Make sure that your ponytail is 100% bump free.
Step number three: create the bun
Option 1-split your ponytail in half and twist each half in opposite directions. Wrap the sections around each other to create a simple twist braid and secure with a clear hair tie. Then, wrap it around the base of the ponytail and pin into place. This is a great option if you don’t have a hair doughnut or you just want to give you bun more interest.
Option 2- cheat and use a doughnut. These are great for getting that perfect ballet bun look. The trick with doughnuts its to make sure you have long enough hair to cover the doughnut evenly. Make sure you have lots of wide toothed hair pins ready, you will need them to secure your bun.
Step number 4: the finishing touches
This classic bun is stunning all by itself and can be left as it is. If you want to add that wow factor like Ashley did at the Oscars, it is all about the accessories. Take time to pin your bows in the right place to make an impact and add hairspray to finish.
