Beautiful bohemian ponytail

Ponytails are still one of my favourite hairstyles. They have been around for years and they are both functional and sleek. I know what you are thinking, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, but I think this style is the most amazing version of a ponytail. This is flirty, laid back but is perfect for when you are dressing up for your Christmas work party. So let’s get started so you can create this look yourself.

Step number 1: prepare your hair

this is a look that is fine for any type of hair and for newly washed locks or second hair with dry shampoo. Once your hair has been dry and brushes pop in your Cliphair extensions to your hair is thick and luscious. This is going to be a pulled back look so if you have any wefts near the front that you think is going to be too visible, take them out now. I always like to have a slightly more ‘undone’ look when it comes to boho-inspired looks. If you are like me, separate a few strands that will frame your face later.

Step number 2: twist

French twists are super popular and I love them to glam up my ponytails. You want this to be big enough to be noticeable, particularly if you have darker hair. I worked with a 2-inch section of hair. Divide it into half and twist your section to the right before draping it over the other half to the left. Make sure you add a few strands of hair to the bottom half each time you twist to keep the twist tight and looking full. Stop adding strands when you reach your ear and continue to twist as normal to the end of your hair and secure with a hair tie. You can either create the second twist on the other side of your head by following the same process. Tug at each section to make them more full.

Step number 3: finishing touches

Now your twists are looking stunning it is time to put the full look together. This is a bit weird to do but tie your twists together in front of your face. Bring the rest of your hair together into a low ponytail. Before you secure your ponytail gently add your twists and tie it all together. If you want the style to be slightly more dramatic you can curl the ends of your ponytail. If you want to go for a slightly more bohemian vibe why not add some flowers to your twist or secure a satin scarf around the hair tie. One this that is an absolute must is your texture spray finger comb that through and you and you are done!
